Although backpacking is fun, you cannot discount the possibility of falling sick or contracting a disease or illness during your trip. This is where a medical checkup may come in handy. Note that you may change your checkup schedule based on a few factors such as the duration of the trip and the location of your vacation. Search the internet of the possible disease spereading in the country you are heading off to.

The important thing that you must remember to do is to get yourself checked at the doctor at least three to six months before going off to your vacation. Vaccination will be needed especially if you are heading to developing nations. So, head to your nearest clinic and tell the nurse which country and they will have the list of jabs that you can opt to have.

The usual shots you can ask are for Typhoid, Cholera, Hepatitis A, Polio, Meningitis, Tetanus, Diphtheria, or Yellow Fever. To avoid yourself from getting malaria, you can get both Doxycycline and Mefloquine medicines. Since no medication gives a 100 percent protection but the best way is not to get bitten by mosquitoes. And remember to bring your own medication!
