Travel Advice (Passport/Visa/Insurance)
Make sure that your passport is at least 6 months from its expiry date and can cover the whole duration of your tour starting from the date of your departure flight. Visit your country’s homeland security department to apply for your passport.
Travel insurance is essential and should be applied before you go on your backpacking tour to cover your medical and healthcare, possessions, personal liability, personal accident, and cancellation.
If you are planning to use your mobile phone during your backpacking and not wanting to spend a huge amount of money for the reverse charges, why not buy a SIM card in the country you are visiting? You can easily find prepaid SIM card in most South East Asia countries or go online and use Skype or other free internet telephony services.
Drug trafficking is an offence that carries a death sentence or excommunication in most countries. All countries take this as a very serious offence and offenders will be given maximum punishment.
Backpackers have to be alert on the illegal imports, tax or duty of certain items should the country that they are visiting impose such regulation when arriving at the country. We suggest that you check with the country’s government website for further details especially regarding the entry visa application.

why do we travel? Or like the song goes “does anybody know what we are looking for”?? Why do we consider travel a basic desire nowadays? I especially like how George Santayana puts it in The Philosophy of Travel: “We need sometimes to escape into open solitudes, into aimlessness, into the moral holiday of running some pure hazard, in order to sharpen the edge of life, to taste hardship, and to be compelled to work desperately for a moment at no matter what.” Do we travel to lose ourselves or to find ourselves?
